MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has launched a pre-budgetary consultation on the 2023 Draft National Budget with Civil Society Organizations (CSOS) in the Country.
The exercise was carried out in Monrovia Tuesday, August 16, 2022, by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, with funding from the World Bank.
Deputy Finance Minister for Budget, Tenneh Brunson, said:” The consultation is aimed at disclosing the formulation and usage of the national budget.”
She said it was necessary to consult the CSOs and other key stakeholders and members of Liberia’s Fiscal Transparency Advisory Group, to help improve their involvement and citizens’ participation in the process.
The Deputy Finance Minister assured of Government’s commitment to continuously support opportunities for citizens to contribute to decision making process around the budget, which affects their livelihoods.
For his part, Integrity Watch Liberia Executive Director, Harold Aidoo, lauded the Government terming such exercise as the dawn of a new day.
Mr. Aidoo urged the Government to do all to ensure that the national budget be used to develop the Country, while implementing programs and projects that will improve the lives of the people.
