MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Press Union of Liberia (PUL), in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), has launched the Health Reporters Network of Liberia.

The Network was launched at a one-day symposium that brought together over twenty journalists from across Liberia.

The Launcher of the Network, WHO Country Manager, Dr. Peter Clement, said:” The power of the media in shaping the global agenda cannot be overemphasized.”

Dr. Clement said:” Partnering with the PUL is a great opportunity to ensure misconception and misinformation is minimized not only in the health sector, but also gender, youth and agriculture.”

He cautioned participants to get more involved with sensitizing disease outbreaks in Liberia.

For his part, PUL Vice President Daniel Nyakonah lauded the WHO for supporting the PUL in rolling out the Health Reporters Network, adding that such network will be key in ensuring facts-based news on issues about health on Liberia.
