US Ambassador McCarthy warns against doing business with sanctioned officials….

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United States Ambassador to Liberia, Michael McCarthy, has warned individuals and institutions doing business with recently sanctioned officials to desist or risk US sanctions.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, November 14, 2022, Ambassador McCarthy said:” Any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitates a significant transaction for any of the individuals or entities could be subject to US sanctions.”

He said his warning also applies to those who transact with Senators Prince Johnson and Varney Sherman, also sanctioned under the Global Magnitsky Act.

Recently, the US Treasury Department designated Mr. Nathaniel McGill, Bill Twehway and Cllr. Syrenuis Cephus of Liberian Government, and were sanctioned for allegation of corruption under the Global Magnitsky Act.
