MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The 54th National Legislature is expected to open today, Monday, for the 5th and final session of that august body.
The opening is in line with Article 32(a) of the Liberian Constitution, which provides that the Legislature shall assemble in regular session once a year on the second working Monday in January.
A release said President George Weah, Officials of Government and members of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as civil society organizations, are expected to grace the opening ceremony.
The ceremony will witness a grand march led by the leaderships of both Houses of the National Legislature and hoisting of Flags by the Sergeant-At-Arms and his principal deputies.
The release is quoted as saying following the resumption of normal Legislative work, members of that august body will give due consideration to the scrutiny and passage of the draft National Budget submitted prior to the break.
