MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberians today join the rest of the world in celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day, is observed each year on February 14, when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts.
It originated as a Christian feast day honoring a martyr named Valentine.
Through later folk traditions, it has become a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.
Liberians are marking the day with expression of love messages, with many donning the color red in celebration of love.
