MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Professor, Ansu Sonii, has put a hold on the implementation of recent policy action instituted by the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE).
The action was contained in a pronouncement suspending the policy which requires heads of universities and colleges without requisite qualifications to resign with immediate effect.
The NCHE recently launched the implementation of the policy, sparking criticism and tension among institutions of higher learning in the Country.
However, in an ELBC interview on Monday, February 21.2023, Professor Sonii said the policy will remain suspended until the NCHE Director General, Dr. Edward Wonkeryor and the Board of Commissioners meet for appropriate consultation and justification.
Professor Sonii noted that while the Board of Commissioners is committed to reforming the higher education sector, any policy implementation must be done appropriately.
