MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie, has described as unfair and far-fetched for anyone to grossly render the Country unsaved, because of a single crime incident.
Minister Rennie’s reaction comes in the wake of growing public sentiments regarding recent attack on the home of the former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott.
He told ELBC Super Morning Show on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, that the Liberian Government is capable of providing security for its citizenry and foreigners alike.
The Information Minister said:” Government has been tolerant amid persistent protests by individuals in the name of seeking redress to their grievance.”
Minister Rennie cited instances in which Government had been accused in series of cases, but the truths were later revealed, making specific reference to Journalist Tyron Brown case.
Meanwhile, Minister Rennie has frowned at media institutions using the Country’s airwave, without ethical and professional consideration.
He made specific reference to the Spoon FM Radio Station.
Minister Rennie said: “The Management of ‘Spoon’ has an ethical responsibility to the Country, and it should take the necessary corrective measures.”
He said Government will officially inform the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) about the form of broadcast by Spoon FM, and ruled out any attempt to shut down media institutions in Liberia.
The Information Boss said:” It is not a good thing for people to abuse the Country’s airwave, and there are plans by Government to expose the unethical practice of Spoon FM to the Liberian people.
