MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Information Ministry and the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) have concluded talks on upholding ethical standards in the media, ahead of the 2023 October Presidential and Legislative Elections.
The talks were initiated by the Information Ministry requesting the PUL Leadership to a round table dialogue on ethical breaches committed by Spoon FM-Liberia.
During the talks, Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie, said:”The Liberian Government has no intention of shutting down any media institution as speculated in some quarters.”
Minister Rennie also wants the PUL to en courage a stronger editorial regime to help hold journalists and media personalities to ethical standards.
Meanwhile, PUL President Charles Coffey lauded Government for the talks and said the Union was working to ensure the adherence to ethical standards across the media.
