Monrovia, Tuesday, April 4, 2023 – Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah has met and held discissions with United States’ Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona.
The meeting took place in Zambia, on the sideline of the Democracy Summit where Mr. Cardona headed the U.S. delegation.
In releasing footage of the meeting Monday, US Embassy in Monrovia said the two officials discussed wide range of issues with Minister Kemayah emphasizing Liberia’s commitment to democracy, including free and fair elections on October 10 this year.
According to the Embassy release, Secretary Cardona also said that the peaceful transfer of power is a strong symbol of democracy, and that education empowers an informed public.
It added that the United States and Liberia, as two of the oldest continuous republics in the world, share a unique history paired with common democratic values.
“We are in the business of building a future together” Monday’s statement concluded.
