“Senator Nyomblee Karnga-Lawrence is No Longer Liberty Party Political Leader”-Chairman Bility

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberty Party (LP) Chairman Musa Bility has reiterated that Grand Bassa County Senator Nyomblee Karnga-Lawrence is no longer the Political Leader of the Party.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show Monday, April 17, 2023, Chairman Bility said:” Senator Karnga-Lawrence has since been expelled and her tenure expired in October last year.”
He added that the Grand Bassa County Lawmaker was only completing the tenure of the former Political Leader, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskin, which has since expired.
Chairman Bility is, at the same time, calling on the National Elections Commission (NEC) and partners to avoid doing business with Senator Karnga-Lawrence.
It can be recalled that the Supreme Court of Liberia recently ruled in favor of Mr. Bility, declaring the 2021 Special National Convention of the Liberty Party which brought him to power, legitimate.
Meanwhile, the LP Vice Chairman for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, says Senator Karnga-Lawrence remains the legitimate Political Leader of the Party.
He added that the Court’s ruling does not question the Political Leader’s position of the LP.
Mr. Sando clarified that the issue taken to court included NEC’s authority to investigate the Party’s Constitutional tempering and the legitimacy of Musa Bility and Martin Kulah as Chairman and Secretary General.
He noted that the 2021 constitution adopted by the LP partisans does not ascribe any tenure to the Political Leader position of the party.
Mr. Sando also told ELBC that the Party’s constitution calls for the election of the Political Leader as Standard Bearer each election year, noting that the party agreed not to field any presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
