MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Medical Director of the Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu County has clarified that at no time patients who sought treatment at the County’s referral hospital die, as reported by Senator Gbotoe Kanneh.

Recently, Gbarpolu County Senator Gbotoe Kanneh, in a communication to the Liberian Senate, alleged that there is a present commotion between the County’s Health Officer and Medical Director, which has led to the death of several patients at the referral hospital.

Reacting to the Senator’s communication on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Dr. Mugabe Pojah termed the report as false and misleading, describing it as mere propaganda.

Dr. Pojah also clarified that there has never been a time when parents were left unattended daily at the hospital, as was reported by the Gbarpolu County Senator.

The Emirate Hospital Medical Director also emphasized his preparedness to appear before the Senate for further investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Dr. Pojah wants citizens of the County not to panic about the Senator’s report, because it is intended to create disunity amongst the citizens of the county.

He reiterated that the Country’s health team remains committed to working collaboratively to provide adequate healthcare delivery to citizens of the area.

Dr. Pojah further said the state of the county’s referral hospital is peaceful and stable, adding that medical activities are on course to buttress the efforts of the government to ensure that citizens have access to good healthcare services.

The Emirates Hospital Medical Director spoke to ELBC via mobile phone on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
