MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Secretariat of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) has acknowledged improvements in the economy and governance of Liberia.

APRM is a mutually agreed instrument voluntarily acceded to by African Union member states as a self-monitoring tool.

In 2011, Liberia joined the body which is often described as “Africa’s Unique and Innovative Approach to Governance”.

On the ELBC Economy Hour program Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the Executive Director of the program at the Ministry of Finance, Wilfred Selmah, said:” Improvements in the economy and political stability are indicative of Government’s adherence to major regional and continental frameworks”.

Mr. Selmah said though the final appraisal from the 2021 assessment report on Liberia is yet to be released, initial reactions to the document have been positive.

Mr. Wilfred Selmah named reduction in inflation, domestic resource mobilization, and the conduct of a series of free and fair by-elections as achievements captured in the report.
