MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Head of Secretariat of the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) says two new requirements have been added to make the standard of the institution more vibrant.
Mr. Jeffery Yates said the two new requirements are anti-corruption and energy transition.
Mr. Yates noted that steps were taken to strengthen the beneficial ownership regulation as part of EITI Standards.
He said:” Under the anti-corruption requirement, EITI countries will not be reporting but take action through resource transparency, while under the energy transition, they will move from fossil fuel to renewable energy.”
Mr. Jeffery Yates disclosed that the two requirements were added at the just-ended EITI Global Conference held in Senegal.
