MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has confirmed the deaths of two people and injuries of several others in the recent Foya violence, as a Joint Security inquiry into the incident gets underway.
Addressing a joint security press conference on Monday, October 3, 2023, Justice Minister Cllr. Musa Dean said:” The incident was a result of clashes between individuals identified as supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and Unity Party (UP).”
Minister Dean disclosed that the Joint Security Special Investigation Team on Elections Violence has commenced an investigation into the Foya incident and that findings will be made soon.
The Attorney General said:” Individuals found culpable of the violence will face the full weight of the law.”
Justice Minister Cllr. Musa Dean warned that no one has the right to disrupt the peace of the country, stressing that the Liberian Government will not condone acts of lawlessness by anyone or group of individuals as a means of seeking redress to their grievances.
