MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Deputy Gender Minister Alice Johnson Howard is rallying Liberian girls to be self-confident in their endeavors.
Minister Howard said:” I believe self-confidence determines on one’s attributes, irrespective of sex in all sectors of society.”
She urged girls to acquire quality education and not be intimidated by their male counterparts, stressing that the Gender Ministry and its partners are committed to finding remedies to social barriers confronting the Girl Child.
Deputy Gender Minister Alice Johnson Howard spoke on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at a program marking the Eleventh International Day of the Girl Child in Monrovia.
Meanwhile, the President of the Adolescent Girls Advisory Panel in Liberia, Christina Queyou, wants the Gender Ministry and partners to build a resilience bloc against girls’ abuse.
Madam Queyou said:” Girls are being abused without prosecution.”
She further spoke against early marriage of young girls and wants frantic efforts made towards gender equality in society.
She then challenged young Liberian girls to acquire education for the future of the country.
