MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Joint Security has rubbished fake violent instigators engaged in spreading false rumors of violence in Monrovia on social media and other traditional electronic media institutions.
According to the Joint Security, the rumors are being spread by unscrupulous individuals whose sole intent is to instigate violence, while NEC continues its announcements of results.
The Joint Security reaffirms its commitment to protecting the peace and stability of the state.
It urged Liberians to remain peaceful and look up to the National Elections Commission for announcement of official election results.
According to a release, the Joint Security warned anyone attempting to undermine or threaten the peace and security of the state will face the full force of the law.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Candidate of the African Liberation League, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has conceded defeat and is urging all to work together in mitigating negative perceptions like post-election violence.
Madam Beysolow said:” Though there is tension and apprehension, it is time to put aside differences and reconcile the country.”
In a statement released on Monday, October 16, 2023, Madam Nyanti commended the NEC for its efforts despite numerous constraints.
Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti said:” After the final results are announced; the losers must accept or take a legal pathway instead of resorting to violence.”
She called for a full audit of the electoral process to identify weaknesses and proffer solutions for future elections, including assessing the current electoral laws to ensure they are sufficient.
According to the African League Presidential Candidate, Liberia’s challenges require collective Liberian solutions that transcend tribal affiliations, political allegiances, and religious beliefs.
