MONROVIA, LIBERIA-ECOWAS is cautioning political parties against post-election pre-victory celebrations.
It followed reports of an alleged planned conference by political actors to pre-maturely declare victory in the just-ended Presidential Run-Off Election.
The Mission is therefore cautioning candidates, political parties, and their supporters to exercise maximum restraint and patiently await the official declaration of election results by the Commission.
A release quotes Professor Attahiru Jega, Head of ECOWAS Election Observation Network, as warning individuals or groups that they will be held accountable for any acts that may lead to violence and undermine the hard-earned peace and stability of Liberia.
The Regional Bloc also reiterated calls to candidates, political alliances, and supporters to be guided by the spirit of National Unity and uphold the commitments enshrined in the Farmington Declaration.
