by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Joint Security of Liberia has again warned that it will not allow any pre-victory celebrations by political parties, ahead of the final results and declaration of the winner by the National Elections Commission (NEC).

It followed reports that supporters of the two parties in the run-off are preparing to hold pre-victory celebrations this Friday, November 17, 2023.

The Joint Security, in a recent release issued, said it will continue to monitor the situation, including social media platforms, and will hold accountable under the laws of the country, anyone who incites chaos that leads to violence.

It also called on leaders of the two political parties to exercise control over their supporters, as well as demonstrate a high degree of political maturity and sensitivity, during this crucial moment.

At the same time, the Joint Security is encouraging Liberians to go about their normal activities, assuring that security is guaranteed.
