MONROVIA, LIBERIA-EISA International Election Observer Mission, with support from USAID, has released its report on the November 14 Presidential-Run-Off, highlighting several recommendations.

The group praised the National Elections Commission (NEC) for its credible handling of the overall electoral process.

Releasing the group’s findings over the weekend at a news conference in Monrovia, the Head of Mission, Dr. Nevers Mumba, former Vice President of Zambia, recommended appropriate electoral reforms to strengthen the current legal framework.

Dr. Mumba also recommended the establishment of a specialized court to hear all electoral disputes and called on the Government to devise measures to deter voters’ trucking.

He urged traditional leaders to abstain from partisan politics in violation of the Constitution of Liberia and execute mandates in a non-violent manner.

Dr. Nevers Mumba called on the National Elections Commission to improve the contracting and vetting of temporary staff to enhance a free, fair, and credible election.
