MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Assistant Chief of Staff for Medical Services has called for concerted efforts combating the devastating effects of HIV and AIDS virus in Liberia.
Lieutenant Col. Joseph Kowo said:” HIV and AIDS remains a global threat to peace, human rights, and happiness of individuals and their communities.”
Delivering the Oration at this year’s World AIDS DAY in Monrovia recently, the AFL Assistant Chief of Staff said:” More than one thousand Liberians die every year from HIV and AIDS-associated causes around the country.”
Lieutenant Col. Kowo also wants community groups and organizations to play a pivotal role in protecting HIV and AIDS carriers void of discrimination.
He also called on policymakers to fight against discrimination, because it hinders access to testing, treatment, and care for HIV/AIDS carriers.
