MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Internal Affairs has hailed the Management of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) for milestone achievement, particularly in infrastructural development.
Internal Affairs Minister Varney Sirleaf described the dedication of the new Language Radio as a laudable and monumental achievement by the Estelle Liberty-Kemoh-led Administration.
Speaking on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the official dedication of the facility, Minister Sirleaf said:” The move is crucial, and a worthy undertaking and impetus for succeeding generation.”
The Internal Affairs Minister, however, wants the Rural Broadcasting Division of LBS to work along with government ministries and agencies to institutionalize the country’s crucial values.
Minister Sirleaf said doing so will further enhance the Country’s democratic credentials, and attract more investments in Liberia.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Council of Chiefs and Elders, Chief Zanzan Kawor, described the LBS as a beacon of hope for the Liberian media.
Chief Kawor said:” LBS has demonstrated the virtues of professional journalism and proven to be the Country’s leading media industry.”
He said:” LBS has set the pace in the country for other media entities to follow suit for the common good of the Country and its people.”
Chief Zanzan Kawor said:” Such a move will foster good governance, and effectively educate citizens about their roles in solving societal problems.”
At the same time, Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie, wants the Government of Liberia to provide adequate budgetary support to the Communication Sector of the Country.
Minister Rennie said:” More investment in the Communication Sector is critical towards national development programs.”
Minister Ledgerhood Rennie also described the dedication of the Language Radio as a milestone achievement by the Estelle Liberty-Kemoh-led Administration.
