by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Lofa County Traditional Council has launched an investigation into the forceful initiation of a twelve-grade student of the Foya Free Pentecostal High School in the County.

ELBC Lofa County Correspondent said Franklin Gwolee was forcefully initiated into the Poro Bush on Monday, January 8, 2024, when Franklin and his grandfather were returning from the farm.

Family members of the victim and the Christian Community in Foya have described the action by the Traditional Zoes as unlawful and called on the police for a speedy investigation.

They, however, want the National Traditional Council of Liberia, Lofa County Chapter, to put in place stringent measures to protect citizens against forceful initiation into the Poro and Sande Societies.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police Detachment in Foya is urging the family of Franklin Gwolee to remain calm, as it is currently working along with the relevant authorities to address the matter.
