MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Reports reaching ELBC say the female division at the Monrovia Central Prison has been closed due to a high influx of inmates.
ELBC Judicial Report, quoting an inside source said the cells were intended for ten females per room, but they now host around eighty female inmates overall.
The source said because of the conditions, prison authorities are only accepting female convicts and not pre-trial detainees.
The report comes barely days after prison authorities confirmed the death of male inmates as a result of heat exhaustion.
