MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has concurred with the House of Representatives on the passage of the National Budget.

It followed the submission of the Draft National Budget on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, to the Senate by the House of Representatives.

The Budget was passed as submitted by the House of Representatives in the tone of $ 738.8 million.

Speaking in Plenary on Tuesday, Senate Committee Chair on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, Senator Prince Moye, said:” The budget hearings were done jointly, and as such, there was no need for any changes or delays in its passage.”

Meanwhile, the National Budget has been forwarded to the Executive Branch of the Liberian Government for signature and subsequent printing into handbills.

At the same time, the National Legislature has allotted six hundred thousand US Dollars in the National Budget for the reconstruction of the C.H Rennie Hospital in Kakata, Margibi County.

The Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, Prince Moye, said: “It is an initial amount by the Liberian Government to begin the reconstruction process.”

He noted that the amount indicates the Government’s commitment to ensuring that the Hospital is completed.

Recently, Margibi County Senator Nathaniel McGill advocated for the Hospital to be placed in the National Budget.

The C.H. Rennie Hospital was gutted by fire in 2021, thus paralyzing the delivery of basic health services to the people of Margibi County.
