MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Executive Mansion has announced Executive Order 134 suspending tariffs on off-grid solar renewable energy products.
The issuance of the Executive Order by President Joseph Boakai is intended to stimulate activities in the Renewable Energy Sector and encourage privet sector investment.
An Executive Mansion release issued on Monday, June 17, 2024, said the order is also expected to increase access to clean, affordable, and quality energy services across Liberia.
The release said the availability and affordability of quality energy services will boost economic development and ensure the efficient supply of assorted electrical appliances to the people.
Beneficiaries of the new Executive Order must be directly involved in the Renewable Energy Sector and duly registered with the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency.
The list of items eligible for duty waiver includes solar lights, lanterns, wires, switches, and adaptors, among others.
