MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The President of the Salala Rubber Corporation Workers’ Union and General Secretary are assisting the police in the investigation of the recent violent protest at the Company in Weala, Margibi County.

On Monday, July 1, 2024, the police arrested more than thirteen persons in connection with the protest and are currently being detained in Kakata, Margibi County.

Speaking in an ELBC interview on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Minister of Information, Jerolinmek Piah said:” Those involved in the destruction of properties at the Corporation will be brought to justice.”

Minister Piah noted that the massive destruction of striking workers is unjustifiable and must be condemned by well-meaning Liberians.

The Information Minister said: “The Government’s Team has already visited the Company to assess the situation for informed decision-making and action.”

Minister Jerolinmek Piah, however, thanked the State Security personnel for restoring calm at the Company’s site.
