MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai says the Catholic Church has over time contributed to the growth and development of the Country.
President Boakai said:” Contrary to some popular beliefs, the church’s involvement in Liberia has been crucial to the development path of the country for over centuries. The contributions of the Catholic Church are enormous to the socio-economic and cultural progress of Liberia.”
President Joseph Boakai said the church has not only been involved in educating the younger generations for decades and providing health services to citizens but has crucially been a pillar of spiritual growth.
For his part, the Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Monrovia, Gabriel Blamo Jubwe, called for increased collaboration between the Government of Liberia and the church in finding solutions to present-day realities.
Archbishop Jubwe said:” Through such collaboration, the socio-economic and spiritual growth of the nation and people can be adequately addressed.”
He urged both institutions to channel a new approach to supporting education, character-building, and the preparation of the youthful population in fast-tracking nation-building.
The Catholic Archbishop also called for unity among members of the church in realizing the goals and aspirations of the sacred institution.
Archbishop Gabriel Blamo Jubwe spoke at the Mass for Conferral of Pallium on him of the Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia, over the weekend.
