Former Senate Pro Tempore Cletus Wortoson Dies

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Senate Pro Tempore Cletus Wortoson has died at age 87.

The death of the Liberian statesman was confirmed to this Station by Numene Bartekwa.

The former Grand Kru Senator, politician, and former Associate Professor of Geology at the University of Liberia was elected Senate Pro Tempore in March 2009, a position he held until 2012.

The fallen Lawmaker also served as Minister of Lands, Mines, and Energy from 1978-1980, as well as head of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company for three years.

The former Senate Pro Tempore was also a former Standard Bearer of the erstwhile Alliance of Political Parties in 1997.
