MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former foreign Minister Olubanke King Akerele has urged ex-President George Weah to denounce orchestrated violence and hate speeches by the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) supporters and partisans.
Madam Akerele said:” While the world applauds former President Weah for the smooth handover of power to President Joseph Boakai in the 2023 Presidential Elections, his associates must refrain from violent activities.”
She noted that hate speeches and violence have the potential to disrupt Liberia’s decades of peace in the sub-region.
The former Foreign Minister spoke recently at the National Flag Day Celebration in reaction to the August 22 violence at the Headquarters of the CDC.
The Country’s 177th Flag Day Orator also called for a full investigation into the recent violent clashes between the Liberia National Police (LNP) and supporters of the Party.
