MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ivoirian Coast Guard says it is committed to facilitating ongoing efforts by the Liberian Coast Guard to secure the country’s maritime waterways.
The Commander of the Ivoirian Gun Ship, Siriki Fofana, committed over the weekend when the Coast Guard of Ivory Coast arrived at the Freeport of Monrovia.
Commander Fofana told reporters that the team will work along with the Liberian Coast Guard to combat issues such as drugs and human trafficking, as well as other criminal activities in the Liberia waters.
He noted that both countries’ Coast Guards will develop a good communication management system to ensure that challenges faced by them are addressed.
The Ivoirian Coast Guard was received by the Ivoirian Delegation in Liberia and officials of the National Port Authority (NPA).
Meanwhile, the NPA Director, Moley Paasewe, expressed confidence that the cooperation between the Coast Guards of Ivory Coast and Liberia will be further enhanced.
Mr. Paasewe said:” Such collaboration is critical to curtailing criminal activities on the two countries’ waters and fostering sustainable development.”
The National Port Authority Director also lauded the Ivoirian Coast Guard for their visit to Liberia and their commitment to fostering partnership with the Liberian Coast Guard.
