Liberian Gov. Discloses Plan to Import Monkeypox vaccines

MONROVIA-LIBERIA, The Government of Liberia says it is working along with the World Health Organization to bring into the Country the monkeypox vaccines.

Since the declaration of the monkeypox disease as an international health emergency by WHO and the Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC), Liberia has confirmed one case.

The Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Dr. Chris Dougbeh Nyan said: “While NPHIL is working along with partners to curtail the spread of the disease, citizens and foreign residents should adhere to the preventive measures”.

Dr. Nyan made the disclosure Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s regular press briefing in Monrovia, Liberia.

Monkeypox is an infectious disease that is transmitted through a handshake, hugging, sleeping on the same bed as an infected person, and sexual intercourse.
