Beijing, China, Thursday, September 5, 2024 – Liberian President, Joseph Boakai has disclosed government’s preparedness to embark on series of key development projects in the Country.
The projects include rehabilitation of the Freeport to Bo water road, which is expected to strengthen a key economic corridor between Liberia and Sierra Leone. The President also named the construction of two proposed overhead bridges, the laying out of Monrovia and enhancing water and sewage systems.
According to the Liberian Leader, these planned projects have received full backing of the Chinese government, continuing its tradition of developing Liberia’s crucial infrastructure.
President Joseph Boakai said through the collaborative effort and support of China, Liberia is expected to benefit an advanced digital radio and television complex at the Liberia Broadcasting System.
With these projects being supported by grants from China, President Boakai believes the bond of friendship between Liberia and China will only grow from strength to strength.
Meanwhile, President Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed Liberia’s full commitment to an enduring China – Africa partnership.
However, President Boakai said such partnership must be anchored on transparency and accountability that are fundamental principles to good governance.
Addressing the High-level meeting on State Governance at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Thursday, the Liberian Leader said his government places great importance to the ideals of FACAC and its relationship with China.
President Boakai informed the gathering that Liberia is on the path to transformation through the ARREST Agenda, a comprehensive program prioritizing Agriculture, Roads, human capacity building and Tourism.
The Liberian Chief Executive then lauded President Xi Jinping for organizing the 2024 FOCAC Summit and urged African nations to treat the China-Africa partnership with sincerity.
