Pres. Boakai Recommits Liberia to China-Africa Partnership

BEIJING, CHINA-President Joseph Boakai has recommitted Liberia’s full commitment to an enduring China-Africa Partnership.

President Boakai, however, said:” Such Partnership must be anchored on transparency and accountability fundamental to the principles of good governance.”

Addressing the high-level meeting on State Governance at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Liberian Leader said his Government places great importance on the ideals of the FOCAC and its relationship with China.

President Boakai told the gathering that Liberia is on the path to transformation through the ARREST Agenda, a comprehensive program prioritizing Agriculture, Roads, Human Capacity Building, and Tourism.

The Liberian Chief Executive thanked President Xi Jinping for organizing the 2024 FOCAC Summit and urged African nations to treat the China-Africa Partnership with sincerity.

Meanwhile, President Boakai has disclosed the Liberian Government’s preparedness to embark on a series of key development projects in Monrovia.

President named the projects as rehabilitating the Freeport of Monrovia to Bo Waterside Road, the construction of two overhead bridges, laying out of Monrovia, and enhancing water and sewage systems.

According to the Liberian Leader, those planned projects are being supported by the Chinese Government.

President Boakai said:” Through the collaborative effort and support of China, Liberia is expected to benefit an advanced digital radio and television at the Liberia Broadcasting System.”

Those projects, supported by grants from China, President Joseph Boakai said will strengthen the bond between Liberia and China.
