BEIJING, CHINA- First Lady Kartumu Boakai says uplifting the voices of Liberian women and girls for economic empowerment and opportunities is vital for national growth.
According to an Executive Mansion release issued over the weekend, Madam Boakai made the statement on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing, China also attended by several African First Ladies.
The Liberian First Lady also conveyed her assurance to work along with China’s First Lady in upholding women empowerment in Liberia.
Madam Boakai, then, hailed the Government of China for supporting programs that promote the values of women in Africa.
Responding, China’s First Lady, Dr. Peng Liyuan, promised to cultivate stronger relations with African Countries in supporting women’s education and empowerment.
At the same time, the People’s Republic of China has committed itself to supporting Liberia’s development drive.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping, said the relationship between China and Liberia continues to expand to noble heights.
President Xi also encouraged Liberian President, Joseph Boakai, to remain steadfast to China-Liberia relations.
Responding, President Joseph Boakai, expressed confidence that the China-Liberia relationship will be further enhanced.
President Boakai said this is evidenced by the signing of the Maritime Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries to improve Liberia’s Maritime Sector.
At the same time, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the communist Party of China, Li Xi, has pledged the Party’s support to the Liberian Government.
Mr. Li noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke highly of Liberia.
He said the Liberian Leader’s attendance at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is a demonstration of the Country’s commitment to China’s ideals.
Mr. Li believes the 2024 FOCAC will go down in history as the beginning of a process to elevate Liberia, China, and Africa’s relationships to strategic levels.
