Monrovia-Liberia, Monday, September 23, 2024 – Residents of the VOA Community in Brewerville have petitioned the government of the Peoples Republic of China, seeking help to address some of the social challenges facing the community.
In a four Count petition read by Secretary General Mornson Kaisambo, the residents decried lack of basic social services in their community, including access to education, healthcare and technology.
They want Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu intervene by implementing projects that will improve the living conditions of residents of the VOA Community in Brwerville, outside Monrovia.
The VOA Community Secretary General Mornson kaisambo has also lauded the government of China for its enormous contributions to Liberia over the years.
He named the construction of the Ministerial Complex, Jackson Doe Hospital, roads and deployment of medical teams to Liberia during the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks as some of the crucial interventions China has made in Liberia.
Meanwhile the President of the Liberia-China Friendship Organization, Mr. Siafa G. Sheriff has assured residents of the VOA Community about the Chinese government’s commitment to working with communities in bettering the lives of local people.
Speaking when he received a petition on behalf of Ambassador Yin Chengwu, Mr. Sheriff said his organization has made similar impact in the Peace Island Community in District 10, through the Chinese Embassy.
Mr. Sheriff then assured the VOA Community residents that Ambassador Yin will make a visit to their community when he returns to the Country.
He promised to work with the community to establish a local chapter of the Liberia China Friendship Organization in the VOA Community.
The weekend’s program was organized by LICFO, as part of its outreach activities aimed at improving the people-to-people relationship between Liberia and the Peoples Republic of China.
