Liberia Land Authority Calls for Border Harmonization Center Creation

by Administrator

GANTA, LIBERIA-The Chairperson of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) is calling for the creation of a Border Harmonization Center to address across-boundary land conflicts in the sub-region.

Atty. Adams Moniba wants the Liberian Government to work along with countries in the sub-region to establish the Center.

He said:” There are potential cross-border land conflicts among citizens of the Mano River Basin that require regional coordination and intervention by the regional leaders.”

He called on the Government to support the LLA to redefine land ownership within the context of Government and investment, noting that the Government’s agriculture program will only succeed if the Liberia Land Authority is fully supported to implement the law creating the entity.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Internal Affairs Minister for Administration, Samuel Browne, said the agenda of the Second National Land Conference aligns with the Government’s ARREST Agenda.

The Conference is aimed at promoting policy improvement, responsible agriculture investment, and the implementation of the Land Right Laws of Liberia.

Minister Browne, however, praised the Government for putting all issues under the LLA to drive the Land Sector to ensure peace and tranquility.

He told the Ganta National Land Conference that the Liberia Land Authority is responsible for ensuring the legal deeds are issued to legitimate owners.

Minister Samuel Browne stressed the need for the Government to adequately support the Land Sector and promised the Ministry would work along with the LLA to lobby with the Legislature for such support.
