NEW YORK, USA-President Joseph Boakai has called for concerted efforts to accelerate access to energy for poor communities, including Africa.
President Boakai underscored the critical importance for sustainable development in improving the quality of life for millions of Africans, including Liberia, through access to the Energy Sector.
An Executive Mansion release issued quotes the President as describing citizens’ access to energy as a fundamental human right and not a luxury, thus calling for urgent support to the Sector.
He the call at the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) Leadership Council meeting on the margins of the 78th UN General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York City, the United States.
According to the release, President Boakai lauded the efforts of the World Bank, the African Development Bank and other partners for their bold and transformative commitments to electrifying Africa.
President Joseph Boakai also outlined Liberia’s vision for an inclusive energy transaction that prioritizes renewable energy solutions and infrastructure development, with a focus on empowering local communities and fostering economic growth.
