MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Cooperative Development Agency (CDA) has been readmitted as a full-fledged member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), following years of dormancy.
The ICA is the umbrella organization that promotes and protects cooperative values and principles globally while facilitating the economic development of its member organizations.
A release issued recently quotes the CDA Registrar General, Lwopu Kandakai, as extolling the ICA, and the World Bank and partners, for the re-admittance of the Agency.
Madam Kandakai said:” The move is a major boost to the cooperative movement of Liberia, and it will hugely contribute to the overall goal of the Government’s ARREST Agenda.”
At the same time, the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), and the Cooperative Development Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide training opportunities for cooperatives in the Fisheries Sector.
