MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-A ceremony marking the handover of the site for the construction of a bridge linking Liberia to neighboring Cote d‘Ivoire takes place Wednesday in Maryland County.
The bridge will be constructed over the Cavalla River, which separates the two countries.
According to Maryland County Superintendent, Henry Cole, an ECOWAS Delegation has confirmed readiness for the handover ceremony.
In an exclusive interview with ELBC Maryland Correspondent on Monday, September 30, 2024, Superintendent Cole emphasized that the bridge project represents a significant step forward in promoting cross-border cooperation and regional integration between Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.
Meanwhile, local officials and community leaders of the Duoklo, Pelebo International Border are gearing up for the event, which is expected to draw attention from regional stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Members of the Council of ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ERCA) will be sworn into office in Banjul, the Gambia, on Wednesday, October 2.
The swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by the Vice President of the Community Court of Justice, Judge Gberi-Be Ouattara.
The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Alieu Touray, Gambian Government Officials, Ambassadors of ECOWAS member States in Banjul, and Civil Society, among other guests, are expected to participate in the ERCA swearing-in ceremony.
