by Administrator

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared Thursday, November 7, National Thanksgiving Day, to be observed throughout the country as a National Holiday.

The Proclamation calls on citizens, residents, religious leaders and organizations to gather in their various places of worship and offer praise to God for continued unity and protection on the nation.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued recently, the Proclamation is in consonance with an Act of the National Legislature, enacted in 1883, declaring the First Thursday in November each year as Thanksgiving Day.

The Presidential Proclamation says it is befitting that a day be set aside for the nation and people to give thanks and adoration to God for His grace, mercy, and providence, as well as the preservation of lives.

The Proclamation also noted that Liberians have always thanked God for His tender mercies and manifold blessings bestowed upon them and the nation, especially for the continuous protection in the time of peace, disaster, and other phenomenon over the years.
