MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Majority Bloc of the House of Representatives has welcomed Wednesday’s ruling by the Supreme Court against a petition for an alternative writ of prohibition as prayed for by Speaker Fonati Koffa.
The Supreme Court had issued a ruling, stating that the Justice in Chambers, Yamei Gbeisay, has declined to issue the writ prayed for, thereby lifting the stay order issued on October 25, 2024, against the removal of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

It said the Supreme Court’s ruling supports the collective mandate to protect the integrity and honor of the House of Representatives.
The Majority Bloc stated that they are pleased that the Court has declined the Writ of Prohibition filed by the Speaker, adding that such decision further validates the legitimacy of their actions in pursuing accountability, honesty and respect within the House.
