MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Association of Certified Public Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Liberia Chapter has commenced a tree-day symposium in Monrovia.
The symposium aims at widening discussions on financial fraud in the country.
ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization providing training to more than ninety thousand members to reduce fraud globally and foster integrity.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 13,2024, at the start of the event in Congo Town, the ACFE Liberia’s President, Atty. Augustine Chenaway, urged participants to utilize initiative to prevent the country from potential fraud.
Atty. Chenaway said:” Dozens of companies and governments around the world continue to lose billions of dollars due to fraud, and as such, the need to urgently address the menace is vital.”
The three-day Certified Fraud Examiners conference is being held under the theme:” Together, Reducing Fraud Nationwide.”
Meanwhile, Liberia Maritime Authority has disclosed plans to setup a new technology system to monitor ships and boats plying Liberian waters.
Maritime Authority Commissioner, Cllr. Neto Lighe, also disclosed ongoing efforts to digitalize operations of the entity, to ensure it meets current realities.
Cllr. Lighe said:” The new measure is intended to foster transparency and accountability in the Maritime Sector.”
The conference is being held by Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Liberia chapter to widen discussions on fraud and how to combat the menace.
Meanwhile, Cllr. Lighe assured ACFE of Liberia Maritime Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster transparency and accountability.
