MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A local women-rights organization-Women Care Initiative is calling on the Government of Liberia to develop stringent measures against parents forcefully sending their children to traditional bush school during normal academic activities.

The Group’s Project Director, Cyrus Cooper, said:” It is incumbent upon both the Government and parents to ensure that children are in school and not in the bush.

According to our Correspondent, the operation of the traditional bush school during academic school hours has been a serious concern in Bomi County, with many girls being victimized.

Mr. Cooper spoke at a one-day dialogue forum aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need to end all forms of violence against women and girls in the country.

The dialogue brought together several women groups, including the Gender Ministry, the Liberian National Police Women and Children Division, and students, among others.
