MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared Sunday, December 1, as World AIDS Day, to be observed on Monday, December 2, throughout the country as a Working Holiday.
According to a Foreign Ministry release issued recently, the Day is in recognition of the immense contributions of the UN to combat HIV and AIDS.
This year’s event will be observed under the theme: “Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV Progress, and the national theme:” One Goal, One Fight: Ending AIDS Together in Liberia”.
The Presidential Proclamation calls on all Government Ministries, Agencies and International Organization as well as the public to join the National AIDS Commission, to organize and execute appropriate programs befitting the occasion.
The release says the Liberian Government is cognizant to improving the quality off life of its people by promulgating and promoting programs aimed at improving their health, thereby preventing deaths and illness amongst the entire populace.
