MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) has commenced the national quality assurance exercise for institutions of higher education across the country.
The Executive Director of the Commission, Dr. Edward Wonkeryor, said:” The exercise is aimed to identify strengths and gaps, innovation and achievement of institutions, and pinpoint areas that require immediate intervention.”
Dr. Wonkeryor explained that the process will also promote transparency and accountability to ensure all stakeholders adhere to the current state of higher education in Liberia.
He said the inspection is guided by comments to uphold the highest standards in teaching, research, and evaluation.
The NCHE Head noted that the findings from the exercise will serve as the foundation for strategic actions aimed at improving quality, addressing deficiencies, and realigning institutions with global standards.
The NCHE Boss spoke on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the MICAT Press Briefing in Monrovia.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wonkeryor assured that the process will be conducted with fairness, professionalism, and objectivity.
Dr. Wonkeryor said:” Investing in quality education is investing in human capital that will eventually lead to economic, social and political transformation.”
He then charged institutions to use the exercise as an opportunity to showcase strength and embrace the recommendations as tools for improvement.
Dr. Edward Wonkeryor thanked partners and stakeholders for their unwavering support of the process and commitment to providing every Liberian student the opportunity to acquire quality education.
