MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has issued several directives to the Liberia Electricity Cooperation (LEC), setting January 31, 2025, as the deadline for the resubmission of a new Tariff Application proposal to the Commission.
According to an LERC release issued recently, the decision follows a request from the Interim Management Team of the LEC to withdraw the Corporation’s tariff application that was filed in October 2024.
On December 11 this year, the LEC informed the LERC about the Tariff Application previously submitted to the Commission and requested additional time to properly review and revise the tariff application.
As a result, the LERC has extended the current tariff period by three months.
The release noted that during the period, there will be no new tariffs announced for the LEC’s operational areas in Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Cape Mount, and Bomi Counties.
LERC Board Chair Claude Katta emphasized to the Interim Management Team the importance of adhering to the new deadline.
Mr. Katta reiterated that the Commission is committed to ensuring transparency throughout the tariff-setting process.
