Liberian Senate Expresses Shock over Allegation of Its Refusal to Pay Staffers Extra Sitting Benefits

by Administrator

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has expressed dismay over allegations from the leadership of its staffers that the Senate has refused to pay benefits for the just-ended extra sitting.

According to a Senate release issued recently, the staffers were informed by its Committee Chairman on Rules, Order and Administration, Senator Gbleh-Bo Brown, that the Senate approved extra sitting for all staff in the 2025 National Budget.

The release quotes the Senate as saying it is unfortunate that the staff’s leadership will result in public outcry, adding that it has always made payment for extra sitting under the new leadership.

The Senate noted that some of the cardinal issues, including transportation, adequate water supplies, payments of extra sitting, and training of staffers of the Senate, among others, have been addressed in the shortest time.

However, the leadership of the Senate has assured staffers that payment for the just concluded extra sitting will be made during the execution of the 2025 National Budget.
