GRAND CAPE MOUNT COUNTY, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Chief Patron of Sports President Joseph Boakai has described the 2025 National County Sports Meet as a huge success.
President Boakai emphasized the spirit of national reconciliation, pointing to opportunities available despite past challenges.
The Liberian Leader also identified inclusivity as a key virtue for nation-building, aligning with the 2025 National County Sports Meet theme.
President Boakai said:” The theme of this year’s event is a validation of the spirit of national reconciliation, which has influenced minds, emotions and aspirations.”
The Chief Patron of Sports made the statement on Sunday, January 11, 2025, at the official opening of the 2025 National County Sports Meet in Grand Cape Mount County.
President Boakai has further called on participants to commit to the highest standards of sportsmanship, discipline, patriotism, and a sense of accountability.
President Boakai emphasized that maintaining these values is key to ensuring the success of the National Sports Meet, urging every citizen to work together to build a secure and prosperous nation.
The President recognized the role of the National Legislature, the media, local chiefs, and community leaders, among others, in fostering and sustaining the spirit of the national event.
President Joseph Boakai highlighted the contributions of these individuals and groups as crucial to the success of the National County Sports Meet.
Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Cole Bangalu calls on Liberians to use the National County Meet to unite the country.
Minister Bangalu said:” With unity, Liberia can flourish and attract more investments for the betterment of the state and its people. Currently, the government is working out modalities through the Youth and Sports Ministry to modernize the infrastructure of sporting facilities across the country.”
He assured us of the government’s unwavering commitment to improving Liberia, especially through sports.
At the same time, Internal Affairs Minister Francis Nyumalin underscored the importance of sports in fostering national development.
According to Minister Nyumalin, sports are crucial in uniting citizens and enhancing national cohesion in the face of adversity.
He praised the organizers of the event, especially the Youth and Sports Ministry for the initiative to unite Liberians.
Internal Affairs Francis Nyumalin also thanked Liberia’s Chief Patron of Sports, President Joseph Boakai, for their continued support towards the sustenance of peace in the country.
Grand Cape Mount County Senator Dabah Varpilah is also urging all residents of Grand Cape Mount County to take an active role in their local economy.
Senator Varpilah highlighted the rapid development occurring within the county and emphasized the importance of the citizens taking ownership of the progress.
She cautioned against allowing the county’s economic future to rest in the hands of foreign interests, stating that the citizens must return and contribute to the enhancement of both infrastructure and economic development in their community.
Also speaking, Liberia’s Culture Ambassador Kerkula Kamara vowed to revitalize Liberia’s culture, stressing that his leadership will do everything in its power to prioritize Liberian culture over Western culture.
Ambassador Kamara also encouraged, especially entertainers, to showcase the country’s culture on their various platforms, and that such an approach will unlock the country’s rich potential and attract more investments.
