MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung has engaged in a fruitful discussion with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on key areas of mutual interest on the sidelines of the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on the post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) in Uganda.

According to a release issued recently, the two leaders explored several critical issues for Liberia’s national development, focusing on agriculture, food security, mining, industry, and infrastructure.

The release said that the meeting underscored the potential for greater economic collaboration between Uganda and Liberia, with a shared commitment to advancing Africa’s industrial and agricultural capabilities.

The release said President Museveni highlighted the immense potential of Liberia in the iron ore sector, suggesting that Liberia could establish a steel processing plant, which would position the country as a central hub for iron ore and steel production in Africa.

President Museveni encouraged Liberia to explore its rich mineral resources and build home-grown solutions to enhance the continent’s industrial capacity.

In response, Vice President Koung thanked President Yoweri Museveni for their warm hospitality and leadership in hosting the AU Summit and acknowledged the country’s impressive progress in agriculture.
