University of Liberia President Begins Paying…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan, has begun paying part-timers as part of her first 100-day deliverables. 

Dr. Maparyan vowed to use immediate and gradual approaches considering competing priorities in addressing long-standing plights of the University’s Faculty and Staff Association.

She committed to also address the issue of salary disparities and the regularization of faculty salaries among others.

Dr. Maparyan said:” As part of initial plans, I promised to regularize the academic calendar of the University of Liberia, and improve the deplorable situation of the bathrooms at the UL, among others.”

Madam Maparyan disclosed that over ninety percent of the University’s budget will be allocated for salary payment, while the remaining ten percent is to address other matters.

Meanwhile, the President of the UL Faculty and Staff Association, Dr. Edna Johnny called for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding to improve the working environment at the University.
